Here is Phil Collins last album with Genesis and right off the bat you can tell they should have called it quits with Invisible Touch. We Can't Dance oscillates between boring and more boring.
There's some decent songs here. Jesus He Knows Me is at least memorable, if a bit inconsistent. I Can't Dance is a fun song. Not fun enough to be good, but still not too bad.
But thats about it. The rest of the album is full of garbage like Driving The Last Spike and Dreaming While You Sleep. Just way overlong songs that lack basically any substance. They've have like one or two of these an album for a while now but man they really outdid themselves here.
1 hour and 11 minutes is an absurd length for this. Studies have shown that you should limit naps to less than an hour to avoid stuggles sleeping later that night. Seriously though, I don't know how they looked at this and thought "yep, none of this should be cut." Even if they incorrectly thought these were all quality songs, every single one of them could benefit from some editing. Every single song on this album overstays it's welcome.
So with 9 red songs and no green, this is by far their worst album... so far. Nothing happens for large swaths for the album. 20 minutes might have been enough time for this album but instead it just keeps going on.
