Genre: Pop

Now we have Invisible Touch.  This sounds like the logical next step for Genesis.  Another album driven by simplistic beats, gentle synths and occasional guitars.

The title track's lyrics are meh, but the song is infectious.  This is pop after all, what more could you want than a high energy sing along.  Same with Land of Confusion (but with less shit lyrics)

The main issue is how dated this album feels.  Something about the production, coupled with Banks's synth sound and those atrocious electronic drums, makes this feel so much more of an 80s album than their self titled.  

The slow songs are still bad to meh.  Tonight, Tonight, Tonight is eh.  In Too Deep is so sappy its nearly vomit inducing. Throwing it All Away is okay, but just feels hollow.

Side B starts with discount Invisible Touch.  The chorus feels like they took Invisible Touch and swapped some words but kept the same basic idea. 

Domino has practically no substance.  Honestly this might be the single most forgettable 10 minute song thats ever been released.  It's switching been boring as hell and uninteresting as hell.

And this suffers from the same issue as Genesis, a  good first half but a bad second half.  Take side 1 from Genesis and side 1 from Invisible Touch (excluding In Too Deep) and you'd have the quintessential 80s Genesis album.  Throw in Misunderstanding if you must.

2 green and 2 red songs.  The hits here are two of their best 'trio' songs, but there too much 'meh' here.  The lows here aren't quite as bad as the lows on Genesis but the production here is much worse.  But in terms of how much I like each of these, they're pretty interchangeable.

Nursery Cryme

  Nursery Cryme  came our in 1971 Track Listing 1. The Musical Box 2. For Absent Friends 3. The Return of the Giant Hogweed 4. Seven Stones 5. Harold the Barrel 6. Harlequin 7. The Fountain of Salmacis Genre - Progressive Rock And the classic lineup is here.  This group would go on to release 4 albums before Peter Gabriel called it quits.  I'm not super familiar with this album so mostly going in blind here.  I dont have super high hopes since my main complaint about Tresspass is how it feels like bedtime music and this one's name is a play on words for nursery rhyme. The Musical Box - Starts off sleepy, the guitar work is immaculate, just boring.  We finally pick up around the 4 minute mark and it gets much faster paced.  They chose to do a back and forth fade with the guitar solo which I dont like, but overall its excellent.  Cut the first 3 minutes off and this might be my favorite Genesis song so far.  For Absent Friends - I think this em...

This one feels like a natural progression of Foxtrot/Nursery Cryme.  They've kept a lot of the heaviness from Foxtrot and interspersed some of the stupid shit  whimsy from Nursery Cryme.  The start of I Know What I Like and the middle of Thr Battle of Epping Forest are great examples of that.
