I honestly have no idea where this came from. Maybe it's Heather's or maybe I bought it used. I have no memory. Which is fitting for this bland ass album and bland ass bad. I'm tempted to call them a one hit wonder since Feel Good Drag is the only song anyone has heard from them.
Never Take Friendship Personal - This feels like discount The Used. The vocalist is decent but the guitarist doesn't do much
Paperthin Hymn - That intro riff is cool, but the slowdown sucks. Finally showing some teeth at the back half here but still forgettable
Stationary Stationery - Man I hate emo song titles. So stupid. Just a boring song filled with alt/rock tropes. If you listen to radio rock you've heard essentially this song before
(Stupid) title - Slowing it down here. The vocalist can sing, but he doesn't have the ability to make me care about his struggles. The electronic drums fall flat. The chorus has potential, but just feels like emotionless garbage. Also, I dont know how the guitarist can play that same arpeggio for the whole song and not get bored. I didnt count but I swear he sang the chorus 6 times in the song
A Day Late - This one nails the Yellowcard feel. I don't particularly like Yellowcard, but at least this song feels like its going somewhere
The Runaways - Interesting start with the guitars. But it seems every single song here is the same verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bride/chorus pattern. Makes for a predictable boring album
Time and Confusion - He needs to listen to Coheed to see how to do Whoa Hoa's. Not great.
The Feel Good Drag - Interesting guitars, I like the chorus, the singer actually feels like he cares and thr guitar mutes are an excellent addition. Best song they ever wrote. (Sadly, still the same v/c/v/c/b/c pattern from literally every other song)
Audrey, Start the Revolution! - I'm a sucker for some dissonance and those verse chords between the palm muted stuff are excellent. But then the song takes a tonal shift for the chorus and trashes it. And man that "solo" was bad and out of place. I bet that gets fucked up every time they play it live.
Track 10 (I'm not typing that) - Interlude song, not sure this adds much but whatever.
Dance, Dance, Christa Paffgen - This is 7 minutes, it'd better have a hidden song, I dont think they could manage 7 minutes. Typical song, like the rest of the album. Feels like the first song, just drug out to 7 minutes (and yes they really decided this needed 7 full minutes). Way too long
Overall this album is forgettable. There's just not much going on. All of it is 4/4 time and follows the same exact song structure. Well, occasionally they break the mold like track 4 which goes on forever and Dance Dance that is about 5 minutes too long.
2 green and 3 red, I probably won't listen to this one again. Just a boring album full of bad attempts at radio hits
2/5
